Introducing the New American Garden

Documentary
The final, and perhaps most ambitious, in the sequence of three films made to celebrate the American Museum’s creation of its new American gardens.
I was commissioned to film, photograph and interview the key players involved in the work being carried out over the course of a year. The resulting footage was then combined with illustrations, architectural plans and the paintings of Peter Malone, a local artist commissioned to commemorate the museums it’s stunning new floral layout.
The films narrative was very much dictated by on site interviews combined with voiceovers recorded at various points throughout the year. In-house design and animation played an important role in being able to add visual flair and playful drama at key moments. Music and sound effects were then skilfully woven into the visuals to add further impact and emotional depth.
The resulting film has since played an important role both as a document of the work carried out and as a key tool in raising funds for further work.
"Animated Magic has dramatically changed the visibility of the American Museum by giving new life to our annual exhibitions. The quality and the playful inventiveness of the short films are clear to everyone who views them."
